Bio

Jim Schaper is a native Iowa farm boy who began learning guitar at the age of fourteen. His mentor was a family friend who played pedal steel for country music bands in the area. Jim’s beginnings were in country music but branched out over the years to include many styles of guitar playing by greats such as Chet Atkins, Mark Knopfler, and Merle Travis. He has since returned to Iowa and now makes his home in Burlington along the Mississippi River.

After a twelve year stint in the U.S. Navy Jim has been entertaining audiences in clubs, festivals, fairs, coffee shops, private homes, and anywhere an audience might gather even if it’s only a sidewalk on Main Street all over the country.

Jim blends tunes from multiple genres into his own style of cool laid back chill. Songs by Frank Sinatra, Mississippi John Hurt, Eric Clapton, Johnny Cash, Little Hat Jones, and many more come together in an aphrodisiac style of relaxation.
